Cape Town Atlantic Coast

The Atlantic Coast suburbs of Cape Town include some of the most expensive real estate in Africa. The Atlantic Seaboard is the area between Green Point, on the southern edge of the city, and running through Sea Point, Clifton and Bantry Bay and Camps Bay.

Beyond Camps Bay, the village of Llandudno is popular with surfers, the nude bathing beach of Sandy Bay is accessed through the village which is overlooked by some beautiful mansions which cling precariously to the mountainside.

Not far from Llandudno is the growing and ever popular village of Hout Bay (Wood Bay), in the distant past the valley was covered by indigenous forest, today all that remains of the ancient forest is in the remote Oranjekloof reserve. Hout Bay is one of the fastest growing areas in Cape Town and has a thriving town centre and its own waterfront development. Here you can sit and enjoy a meal in a world class restaurant, order a Pizza take out or dine on fresh Fish and Chips while watching the fishing boats come and go in the harbour.

From Hout Bay, what must surely be one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the world along Chapmans Peak drive leads to Kommetjie and Noordhoek. A miracle of civil engineering even by today's standards, the road is cut into an almost vertical cliff face, it is an unforgettable experience to drive the winding road and watch the waves crashing on the rocks, hundreds of metres below. Beyond the green Noordhoek valley the villages of Kommetjie and Scarborough are among the more isolated areas, close to the Cape Point Nature Reserve.
