‘Phumla apha’ is a Xhosa phrase meaning ‘rest here’, and perfectly describes what you will be able to do in this delightful house. Surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks, this bright, relaxed, family home is perfect for alfresco living. With a distinctive Cape feel, it sleeps a total of five people: two in a king-size bed in the main bedroom, and three on single beds in the large second bedroom. There are two bathrooms (main en-suite).
The open-plan lounge and dining room lead directly out to an extensive, wind-protected, and peaceful garden filled with indigenous trees, flowers and birds. The lounge overlooks a crystal clear swimming pool where you can swim in complete privacy. Dine at a table on the creeper-shaded patio alongside the pool or warm yourself around the Jetmaster fireplace indoors.
A portable Weber-type kettle braai (barbeque) is available for use, and around the pool are loungers and a large sun umbrella. Please note that the pool is unfenced and thus the residence is unsuitable for small children and those that have not learnt to swim. Plenty of gated off-street parking is available, including shadenet-covered parking for one vehicle. The property has electric fencing and a comprehensive alarm system to keep you safe.
The kitchen has everything you need for self-catering: a hob/oven, fridge, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. Other facilities include a TV (with DSTV), wi-fi internet access, a DVD Player and a CD sound system. All bedding and towels are also supplied.
Last but not least is the presence of Budd, the resident sweet-natured and talkative tabby cat. All he needs is some love, and pellets twice a day. If you are not happy to have Budd around, please would you look elsewhere for your stay.
GUESTS' COMMENTS
"Phumla Apha was our home away from home while in Cape Town. Our family had a wonderful stay at this delightful, comfortable, characterful cottage. We loved the large pool and delightful rambling garden. The house was well stocked with books and music. The owner was friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Phumla Apha - a very comfortable home-from-home, with a gorgeous, secluded garden and inviting pool. The perfect base to explore the Atlantic beaches and the city."

"Matt and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Phumla Apha during November. It was a wonderful choice of accommodation - the cottage, garden and pool were truly fabulous. The pool was especially inviting considering the temperature went up and up during the week - even better in that the property was more private than you could ask for. The cottage is very well equipped with all mod cons - a complete home from home. Although spoiled for choice with restaurants in Hout Bay, we also enjoyed BBQs. We would definitely recommend Phumla Apha and would indeed book again. And Budd was no trouble at all!"
