


The Stone and Thatch Cottage is located in one of Cape Town's most pristine and naturally beautiful areas, nestled in the Baskloof Private Fynbos Nature Reserve on the northern boundary of the Misty Cliffs Conservation Village. A sacred space of indescribable and ever-changing beauty, approximately an hour's drive from the Cape Town CBD and 50 minutes from Cape Town International Airport.
Enjoy a birds' eye view of southern right whales close inshore during breeding season (July – Dec) or dolphins frolicking in the bay. Languish in the rock splash-pool surrounded by the heavenly smell of the Cape's most aromatic fynbos, enjoy a hot and cold outside shower, pass the time on the deck admiring the magnificent unobstructed 360 degree views of the coastline and mountainside.
Meander down to the local beach or the more energetic can explore the many free hiking trails and walks Baskloof offers.
Alternatively, you can simply enjoy the peace, the big sky and breath-taking sunsets, with the silence only interrupted by the delicious sounds of the waves breaking below, as you luxuriate in your union with nature.
The interior is uncluttered and comfortable . Open plan living and dining areas open through double doors onto a large deck facing the sea and a stone paved terrace facing the mountain that allows you to seek out both the sun and cool summer shade. In winter a large fire place keeps the cottage cozy and warm.
Seperated main bedroom and loft provide privacy and peaceful, cozy living.

The cottage is close to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, and over a short mountain pass, to the historic naval town of Simon's Town with its boutiques, cafes and yacht basin and to Boulders Beach, well known for its penguin colony and protected swimming.
Fish Hoek with its long, safe beach for kids and the eclectic fishing village of Kalk Bay are both a leisurely half hour's drive away. Scarborough and Kommetjie , with their pleasant restaurants and local shops, are the closest 'towns' and are a 5 minute drive away.
Beaches close by which are suitable for swimming, angling, watersports such as surfing, para-gliding and kite-surfing include Misty Cliffs, Scarborough, Witsands, Noordhoek and Boulders .
Magnificent flora:
Mostly endemic Proteaceae (protea family) and Ericaceae (erica family), and the numerous Restionaceae (reed family), Asteraceae (daisy family), geophytes (bulbous plants) and Iridaceae such as babiana, freesia, gladiolus, iris, moraea, sporaxis and watsonia
Rare and endangered wildlife:
Rare and endangered birds like the oyster catcher, black eagle, blue crane, various owls, cape sugarbird, orange breasted sunbird and lesser double collared sunbird are frequently sighted.

Other special visitors include chacma baboons, genets, mongooses, otters and dolphins.
