Hout Bay is on the Atlantic Coast about 20 minutes drive south of Cape Town. The bay itself is surrounded by spectacular mountains, with the imposing Sentinel mountain to the north and the amazing Chapman's Peak Drive to the south. Hout Bay still has a village atmosphere in spite of its recent growth. There are excellent shops, restaurants and a Sunday Craft Market.

Hout Bay is a centre of the crayfish and snoek fishing industry as well as being a base for deep sea fishing charters.
There are numerous walks, from a casual stroll to a strenuous climb. Guided walks are run by the local museum. Other special attractions are the World of Birds home to hundreds of different bird species as well as monkeys and other small animals.

Still feeling energetic after your walks? Try sailing, canoeing/kayaking or go diving for crayfish (with your license of course!). Or take a boat trip out to Seal Island or further round to Clifton for a sunset cruise.

A drive along the Chapman's Peak Drive to Noordhoek, and then on to Kommetjie, Scarborough and Cape Point is a must.
