Cape Town is a hub of special events like concerts from internationally-acclaimed artists, world-class festivals and tough sporting challenges. While there’s never a bad time to visit the Mother City, these incidences do add an extra spark of excitement to your stay in Cape Town self-catering accommodation.
Verve Clicquot Master’s Polo
If you fancy a spot of polo, plan your stay around this prestigious equestrian event. Held at Val de Vie Estate in Franschhoek, the Verve Clicquot attracts the upmarket set for a day of exciting on-field action with elegant amusements on the sidelines.
The event takes place on 2 March this year, starting at 2 pm. The dress code is understated, yet elegant daywear with pops of colour. Remember to wear flat shoes for divot stomping at half time and swanning around the VIP tent while watching the action on the big screen.
Cape Town Cycle Tour
This prestigious event attracts top cyclists from around the world, but it’s not all about the experts. The festivities begin a week early with fun events for any level of cyclist and the vibe is tangible all over the city.
The main race is set for 10 March this year, so book your accommodation and start deciding where you’d like to see the action from. You’ll find restaurants, VIP areas, grandstands and standing-room-only all along this hallowed route. It’s an atmosphere to rival that of the Comrades Marathon and something you have to do at least once.
Two Oceans Marathon
Another one of Cape Town’s biggest events, the Two Oceans Marathon takes place on 20 April this year. This race sees seasoned runners, professional athletes and people with a point to prove, take to one of the most scenic routes in the world to compete for public and personal glory.
Like the Cycle Tour, this is another event to diarise if you want to experience Cape Town ‘gees’ (spirit) at its finest.
Balls and All
