When you’re staying in self-catering accommodation in Cape Town, you can start your day any way you like. Get it going early with views over a stunning sunrise[LO1] , followed by a breakfast at one of these top spots.

Here’s where to start your day the most delicious way in the Mother City.

Cucina Labia in Muizenberg

This upmarket eatery is more of a destination than a restaurant. Take a trip back to the grand old Gatsby era in this historic 1920s building. You’ll find art from Irma Stern, Gerard Sekoto and Francois Boucher to feed your soul and a host of fresh seasonal dishes to take care of the rest.

Casa Labia is located on Muizenberg’s Main Road and is open from 9am daily.

Giovanni’s in Green Point

Giovanni’s Deliworld offers a classic sidewalk experience a la Paris and has been wooing local taste buds for decades. You can look forward to powerful espressos and a little bit of what you fancy be it fresh baked goods, pastries or design-your-own sandwiches.
You’ll find Giovanni’s in Main Road,
Greenpoint and they’re brewing from 8am daily.

Kleinsky’s Delicatessen – Sea Point

If you hanker for a taste of New York, head for Kleinsky’s where the bagels are fresh, and the coffee is hot and strong. Don’t miss the Latke Benedict with or without pastrami, salmon, bacon and spinach.

Kleinsky’s has two branches, one in Sea Point’s Regent Road and another in Parliament Street in the CBD.

Willet’s Hotel – Simons Town

You can’t miss the chance to dine old-style in the gorgeously refurbished Victorian-style hotel if you’re staying in Simon’s Town. The modern restaurant features quaint colonial touches and serves up traditional hot breakfasts as well as continental options.

The salmon and scrambled eggs is particularly more-ish and you can pop in anytime from 7am. The Willet’s Hotel holds pride of place in Saint George’s street, close to Jubilee Square.

Starling’s Café

If you’re staying in Claremont and you’re going to be rising with the birds you may as well start your day at this popular early-morning gathering place. Another Victorian charmer, Starling’s Café is on Belvedere Road and serves all-artisanal eats. So, you can rest-assured that everything you eat is fresh, local and made with utmost care.
