A unique location, glorious views of fynbos-clad mountains and stunning sunsets are just some of the highlights of a visit to Cape Point Vineyards. The estate is a hive of activity, with events and activities on the go all year round.
Take a look at the top things to do at Cape Point Vineyards:
If you love relaxing with family and friends, a picnic at Cape Point Vineyards is just the thing for you. You can linger on the manicured lawns, with the ocean stretching out in front of you and mountain scenes behind while snacking on fine local delicacies and sipping on the Cape’s finest wines.
Expect chicken Waldorf, vegetable quiche, freshly-baked ciabatta, bobotie wraps, Winelands brie and chocolate brownies to finish. It’s important to book well in advance if you want to get your hands on one of these sought-after baskets.
Every Thursday, loyal locals and top chefs head for Cape Point Vineyards to fill up on street-food and listen to the live music.
The fun happens at the restaurant and picnic area, where there’s a playground to keep the kiddies busy while you relax and mingle. In the wintertime, patrons gather around a blazing fire or head indoors to enjoy their meals.
The restaurant’s tasting room is the perfect place to try the excellent sauvignon blancs which made Cape Point Vineyards famous. Apart from sublime sipping, you’ll also be treated to cool ocean breezes and lovely views over the vineyards.
This experience includes five of the best wines produced on the estate including the flagship, Isliedh, which is a previous winner of the Old Mutual best white blend award and is also rated five stars by Platter’s Wine Guide.
Pre-booking is essential.
Food, Glorious Food
If you’re under the impression that most things at Cape Point Vineyard centre around food, you’re right, although the vineyard is often used as the venue for trail run events, after which you can refuel with a well earned picnic on the estate! The estate also boasts two fine restaurants.
The main restaurant offers outstanding views over the ocean, and serves up cuisine courtesy of Executive chef Jonathan Gargan, every day of the week. It’s open for breakfast and lunch on the weekends and all three meals during the week.
The Courtyard is geared towards relaxed family dining and serves up pizza, boerie rolls and some fresh seafood dishes. There’s also a kiddie’s menu available and a jungle gym onsite.
